Meet the Divan
The Divan is the “board of directors” or “executive council” of the organization and serves as the management team for both fraternal and business activities of the Shrine. Each Shrine Center has its own Divan, and the minimum number of Divan members is set by Imperial by-laws at five, with each of these being elected by the Nobility (membership). Therefore, all Shrine Centers have at least five members on the Divan.

Brian Johns and Lady Tracey
Potentate
407-619-1822
"Brian was born March 17, 1964 in Philadelphia and grew up in Central New Jersey in the shore town of Toms River. At an early age, he was bought an electronic keyboard and developed a love of music. By the time of high school, he joined the marching band and was introduced by a high school friend to the drum and bugle corps activity marching with the Eatontown Royales in 1980. He toured by bus all over the east coast forming a close bond with the group and having a great time.
After graduating high school, Brian held various jobs as a busboy, waiter and short-order cook. With no college education or life skills, he spoke to an Air Force recruiter and enlisted in the USAF in 1982. Brian received training as a Cardiopulmonary Technologist where he learned to perform diagnostic testing in a military hospital. He spent the majority of his enlistment stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. After completing his military service, Brian received an honorable discharge in 1986 and returned to New Jersey with a new set of life skills and a sense of direction.
It didn’t take long before Brian found work in his new occupation, specializing in ultrasound. He worked for various hospitals and imaging centers until 1989 when his parents moved to Florida. Brian quickly followed and found similar work in Central Florida. Over the years of his career, he became quite proficient in his field. He worked as the lead cardiac sonographer for a cardiology group for 20 years, where he would meet his future wife Tracey. He was then hired in 2012 as Ultrasound supervisor at South Lake Hospital in Clermont, FL where his still works today.
In 1996, Brian was excited to see that a drum and bugle completion was being held at the Orlando Citrus Bowl. He was even more excited when he discovered that an all-age drum corps existed in Orlando called Heat Wave. It didn’t take long before Brian joined the group and rekindled his love for the activity. In Heat Wave, Brian met a man name Lynn Capraun who introduced Brian to Freemasonry and Shriners. By 1997, Brian was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in South Seminole Lodge 364. Not long after, he joined as a Noble of Bahia in the Drum & Bugle Unit with many other members of Heat Wave.
Brian’s step-father introduced him to motorcycle riding which would become another passion in his life. After a motorcycle accident in 2002 left him with 10 broken ribs, his then coworker, Tracey helped nurse him back to health. Brian fell in love with this pretty, kind, gentle, funny divorced mother of three. They married on April 12, 2003 with friends, family, and fellow Nobles in attendance during the reception at Bahia.
After over 20 years as a Noble, life has been good for Brian. He lives in Kissimmee with Tracey and their four-legged babies, all rescue dogs. His step children are grown and he’s become a grandfather. He still excels at his job and gained experience in a leadership role at the hospital. At Bahia, he still rides motorcycles and plays the tuba. He enjoys cigars and has driven (and crashed) a race car to raise money for Shriners kids. He demitted to Orange Blossom Lodge No. 80 and attends meetings as his cable-tow permits. Brian is serving as Bahia’s Assistant Rabban and hopes to continue serving the Shrine in a leadership role. His focus will be building membership, planning Fundraising activities and increasing participation of our current Nobles."
